Energy Saving Tips
Saving energy is cool and easy to do. Follow these tips to save on your heating and cooling bills.
- Switch your ceiling fan to run counter-clockwise in the winter (this looks clockwise when looking up at it) and clockwise in the summer (this looks counter-clockwise when looking up at it). You'll be able to raise or lower your thermostat.
- Change or clean your air filters at least once a month. Dirty filters prevent your HVAC from operating at its peak performance.
- Use a programmable thermostat to precisely control the temperate at certain times of the day.
- Set your thermostat at 68-70 degrees during the day in the winter and 65-68 degrees at night.
- Tune up your HVAC with an annual maintenance contract. Performance will decline over time without regular maintenance. You'll save energy and money, and your equipment will last longer.
- Set your thermostat at 60 degrees if going on vacation during the winter.
- Repair leaky ducts to reduce heating and cooling costs.
- Use the sun in the winter to heat the inside by allowing the sun to shine in southern windows.
- Replace old air conditioners and furnaces with ones that are more energy efficient. You'll feel more comfortable, save energy and save money.
